Boosting Your Curb Appeal!

Boosting Your Curb Appeal!

Many buyers choose to drive by your home first before setting an appointment to view. An attractive yard will gain interest quickly. Remember, if the buyer does not like the outside, that person simply drives on to the next house. Get your home ready to make a great first impression.

Many fix ups cost very little and consist mostly of time and some elbow grease.  Here are some simple tips to make the outside of your house…SHINE!

The Exterior:

  • Check your home for any needed maintenance. Repair, repaint, stain and touch up.
  • Clean the gutters and check roof for loose or missing shingles.
  • Remove any piles of debris such as wood or landscape trimmings.
  • Remove and/or organize clutter such as children’s toys, lawn equipment, etc.
  • Check that all doors and windows are in working order.  Clean and paint, if necessary.
  • Wash and repair windows, screens, shutters and awnings.
  • Keep walkways clear, clean and in good repair.  This includes your driveway.
  • Place a colorful table/chair or a pot of flowers on the front porch.
  • Invest in a new doormat that says “WELCOME”.
  • Remove parked cars or RVs.

The Yard:

  • Make sure the yard is neatly mowed, raked, edged and free of weeds.
  • Keep your yard watered and looking attractive.  A green lawn makes a home look great.
  • Prune and shape shrubbery and trees to compliment your house.
  • Keep all garden beds weeded and mulched.
  • Add seasonal flowers along the walks or in the planting areas.
  • Devote at least one area of your yard to outdoor living. Keep the outdoor furniture clean and in good repair.
